Turkey - Ankara and Cappadocia / Goreme
July 11 to July 16, 2006

Ankara, while lacking some of the spectacular sights of Istanbul, seemed a much more liveable city.  Also there wasn't the constant barrage of people trying to sell the tourists things...  Still not sure about the mosque/mall concept, but....

Goreme and Cappadocia were the highlights of the trip, hiking in the heat among the oddly shaped rock formations, caves, houses and churches carved in the rocks and the depths of an underground city.  The photos tell more than I can, so hit 'em....  Just noticing the odd juxtaposition of ancient church and modern nightclub... Hmmm....  All parts of my journey...
